Photo by @mathiasdepardon | Commuters on a ferry boat traveling across the Keban dam on the Euphrates River. Keban Lake is a reservoir dam 261 square miles large. It is the fourth biggest lake in Turkey after the reservoir created by the Atatürk Dam. This vast submerged area of water has considerably changed how people commute in the region. Keban is a hydroelectric dam, the first and uppermost of several large-scale dams to be built on the Euphrates by Turkey. Construction of the dam started in 1966 and was completed in 1974. The water of the Euphrates River is regulated by means of large reservoirs of the Keban and Atatürk Dams. Keban, Turkey #turkey #Keban #euphrates #Mesopotamia #gap
